Born in Ireland in 1977, Feargus Cooney has been shooting photography since he was a young child. Growing up in the picturesque Wicklow Mountains inspired a fascination and love of nature and wild open spaces.
The photographer has spent much of his life traveling the globe in search of remote and visually striking places, and conveying his experiences through his Photography and films. He has spent time on every continent except Antarctica.
Feargus now lives in Glasgow with his partner, photographer Eva Schreiber. In Scotland he has come to a place that always inspired his love of wild landscapes on numerous visits, with some of the least developed country in Europe not far from his front door.
Feargus holds an honours degree in Documentary photography from the University of Wales in Newport. His images have been published in various newspapers and magazines. He has also held several solo exhibitions and contributed to group shows in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
The Natural Light Gallery is the photographers Scotland-based business. The name is inspired by the pure method of working that he employs. Relying solely on the conditions at hand, no mood changing filters or post-processing methods to change permanent features in the landscape are ever used. These images are as close as possible to the original scenes as the photographers eye percieved them.
Currently the Gallery is based on this website, with prints and greeting cards also available through some galleries and retail outlets. Though in the long term the plan is to acquire a dedicated physical space.
